Sora Asian Kitchen was conceived as a dining space that could feel elevated and memorable without slipping into cliché. The client wanted the restaurant to nod to East Asian design influences, but in a way that felt contemporary, restrained, and appropriate for a modern urban setting. The aim was to create an interior with depth and character, while avoiding anything overly themed or visually heavy-handed.

Spatial planning played a central role in shaping the overall experience of Sora Asian Kitchen. The restaurant needed to accommodate arrival, waiting, dining, circulation, and service flow in a way that felt seamless, even during busier periods. Each zone was carefully considered so that the space could feel intimate and layered without becoming cramped or overly segmented.

Special attention was given to how guests would move through the restaurant from entrance to table. The transition between spaces was designed to feel intentional, with moments of compression and release helping to create a stronger sense of atmosphere. This approach gives the interior a more immersive quality, allowing the experience to build naturally rather than being revealed all at once.

The palette was balanced carefully to avoid the interior feeling too dark or overly dramatic. Softer upholstery, ambient lighting, and controlled highlights were used to bring lightness into the composition and create a more comfortable dining atmosphere. This tension between richness and restraint gives the restaurant its distinctive presence and helps the interior feel contemporary rather than overly decorative.

Styling within Sora Asian Kitchen was deliberately edited, allowing materiality, lighting, and form to carry much of the visual impact. Decorative elements were used selectively to reinforce the mood and add moments of detail, but never in a way that distracted from the architecture of the space itself. This helped the restaurant feel refined and design-led, rather than overly staged or trend-driven.
