Willow Street Townhouse began as a home full of charm, proportion, and architectural presence, but its interior no longer reflected the way the owners wanted to live. While the bones of the property were beautiful, the spaces felt slightly formal, underused, and disconnected from the softer, more relaxed atmosphere the family was drawn to. The aim of the project was to preserve the townhouse’s character while introducing a more liveable and inviting interior language.
One of the most important parts of the project was improving flow across the main living levels. Like many townhouses, the home had strong structure and beautiful verticality, but the internal experience felt slightly segmented. Rooms were carefully reconsidered to strengthen the relationship between one space and the next, creating a sense of continuity without losing the intimacy that makes townhouse living feel special.
Material selection played a key role in shaping the updated atmosphere of the townhouse. A palette of warm timber, muted stone, soft plaster tones, and natural textiles was introduced to bring quiet richness into the interior without overwhelming the existing architecture. These elements helped soften the formality of the space and added a more tactile, grounded quality to everyday living areas.
Rather than relying on bold statements, the design leaned into nuance and restraint. Finishes were chosen for their ability to age gracefully and sit comfortably alongside older architectural features, creating a home that feels curated yet unforced. This gave the townhouse a sense of timelessness, where elegance comes through proportion, texture, and detail rather than decoration alone.
The finished result is a townhouse that feels elegant, relaxed, and deeply attuned to modern living. Willow Street Townhouse honours the character of the original property while introducing a more thoughtful and contemporary sense of comfort. It is a home that feels polished without pretence, designed to support both beauty and everyday life in equal measure.
